Growing Up Covered: Why I Started This Blog
Welcome
If you’re here, you’re officially early. I appreciate it.
If you’ve got a coffee in hand, even better.
What “Growing Up Covered” means
This name has a double meaning.
First, I literally grew up covered.
I’m 4th generation in a family insurance business, which basically means I learned insurance the same way you learn a language as a kid. Not in a classroom. More like… osmosis at the dinner table.
While other families talked about homework and weekend plans, a lot of our dinners sounded like:
And here’s the weird part: sometimes I’d hear a client’s name and feel like I already knew them, just from years of stories my dad (Paul) told.
Second, “growing up covered” is what happens to all of us as life gets more real.
When you’re 16, insurance is basically a piece of paper your parents have.
Then you buy a car.
Then you rent a place.
Then you buy a home.
Then you start a business.
Then you have kids.
At some point, “coverage” stops being abstract and starts being one of the boring-but-important things that helps you sleep at night.
Why I’m doing this (and why now)
Two reasons.
1) I think insurance should be understandable.
Most people are smart. Insurance just gets explained in a way that makes it feel confusing on purpose. I’m not into that.
I like simple frameworks, real examples, and analogies that actually click.
2) I want this to feel human.
This is not “insurance content.” This is real life, with insurance running quietly in the background.
I live in the Bay Area.
I’m raising three daughters.
I’m building a modern version of a very old family business.
Some days the video will be polished.
Some days it might be me talking with a baby strapped to my chest.
That’s the vibe.

What this isn’t
One last thing
If you can relate to me, you might want to work with me. That’s honestly the whole point.
But even if you never become a client, I still want you to leave these posts feeling calmer and more confident about how coverage works.
Alright. Let’s get into it.
